Stanway Rovers 4-3 Walthamstow

Stow’s first pre-season friendly ended in defeat, but there were plenty of positives to take for Vinny Murphy’s side.

Bobby Rea pounced on a rebound to put Stow one up, and Te Wihongi made it two with a peach of a free kick.

Jared Small set up Michael Bareck for an easy third, but Stanway turned the game on its head in the second half.

They scored four without reply, to take the win.

But for Stow, playing their first friendly, the game was more about getting minutes in the legs, and giving the opportunity to some trialists and players from the reserves.

Stow now host Enfield on Saturday at Wadham Lodge.
