Thurrock 3-2 Waltham Forest
Three different players with the surname Clark scored for Thurrock as they won against bottom club Waltham Forest.
The game did start badly for the hosts though as Richard Worrell ran through and scored with only four minutes on the clock. At 8 minutes Thurrock had a chance to level, but Charlie Stimson’s shot was well saved.
Thurrock started to exert pressure and amazingly didn’t have a penalty given on 20 minutes when Charlie Stimson was poleaxed in the penalty area and a minute later Hulusi Mustapha’s cross evaded everyone and hit the post to nearly double Forest’s lead.
The game was going from end to end and Stimson hit the bar for Thurrock just before Worrell’s 40 yarder was just tipped over by Reece Ottley in the Thurrock goal. On 32 minutes Thurrock levelled when Lewwis Spence played in Stimson who laid the ball back to Robert Clark who smashed home from 20 yards.
Thurrock were once again looking in the referee’s direction five minutes later when Stimson went clear and was hauled down by Opeyemi Atta only for the referee, who was a long way from play, to inexplicably wave play on.
Thurrock came out well for the second half and Spence hit the crossbar from close range, but were again behind on the hour, when Emmanuel Bella ran through and passed to Worrell, who got his second of the game.
The lead only lasted a minute as Lewis Clark marauded forward from wing back and was in the right place to score and level the game. Lewis’s twin brother Jordan then made it 3-2 with just under 15 minutes to go and had another wrongly chalked off for offside when he ran through and scored, the linesman pulling the game back for Stimson being in an offside position despite the forward clearly not going near the ball.
