Two huge signings for Forest on eve of 2016-17 season

Kem Kemal has put the finishing touches to his 2016-17 squad as Waltham Forest start the season against Basildon United this Saturday.

A familiar face returns up front in fans’ favourite Jeff Hammond. Jeff initially played for Forest in the 2006-7 season, and made 13 appearances that season, scoring 7 goals. The next year he made 12 starts and four substitute appearances, scoring 4 goals.

He returned for a second spell in 2011, scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances, helping propel Forest to the top 6 and an excellent FA Cup run. In total, Jeff has played 49 times for Forest, scoring 22 goals. A proven goalscorer, Jeff started his career at Enfield before moving on to Redbridge, then Waltham Forest, and Redbridge again. A period with Enfield Town followed, before a two seasons at Hitchin Town. After a season with Hemel Hempstead Town he moved to Forest and then on to Harlow Town and then Grays where he scored 18 goals in 43 starts.

We’re delighted to be able to welcome Jeff back to the club and hope his impact in this spell is as positive as his last two.

Attacking midfielder Correy Davidson signs, having previously been with AFC Sudbury. Correy came through the youth set-up at Bohemians in Ireland, before moving on to Carrick Rangers in the Northern Ireland Premier League. A spell at Ards followed before moving to AFC Sudbury in 2014 and then Grays Athletic. In two seasons at Grays he scored 3 goals in 22 starts and 7 substitute appearances, finishing the 2015-16 season with the Isthmian Premier Division club. He has also had spells with St Neots Town, Ware and Heybridge Swifts.

Kalin Atakiev is a Buglarian former professional goalkeeper who has played for Haringey Borough, Aveley, Cheshunt and Cockfosters.

Defender Anthony Murray-Bruce also joins the club, having previously played for Wingate and Finchley. He has also represented Middlesex at U18 level.

Finally, Reece Modeste signs from Waltham Abbey.
