Waltham Forest 0-0 Soham Town Rangers
A first half dominated by defences and errors from both teams turned into an enthralling match in the second half with Waltham Forest gaining the upper hand but, ultimately, unable to supply the killer punch.
Within minutes of the first whistle Rangers’ Jonathan Brown pulled a great save from home ‘keeper Eric Barrett. From that early high point, not a great deal happened until the 39th minute when Rangers’ Brady Stone shot from the left of the home penalty area to force Barrett into another excellent save, tipping the shot onto the crossbar and to safety.
The final action of the first half saw Forest’s Richard Shittu get to the six yard box but have his effort smothered by the Rangers defence.
The second half was a totally different affair with Forest having most of the possession and more than enough scoring chances to garner the three points.
On 60 minutes Shittu managed to break through the Rangers defence but the ball ran away from him before he could poke it into the empty net. Then great combination play on the left of the Rangers penalty area from Shittu and Dagher ended with a corner taken by Inaki Ordono which Adrian Retkoceri just volleyed wide.
The last chance of the game came from Forest’s mounting pressure, another corner and Retkoceri heading inches wide.
A really good second half performance from Forest who were unlucky not to take all three points.
