Waltham Forest 0-1 Heybridge Swifts

Heybridge took the spoils in a dour encounter at Cricklefield which will immediately be forgotten.

Save for a three minute spell in the second half, neither side looked like they would even come close to scoring.

It was an end to end first half, but disapointingly, the two ends appeared to be the edges of the penalty areas as neither side could carve out any real chances.

Luke Stanley was bookd for Forest, and at the other end, two Heybridge players broke down their own break-away by running into each other.

At the start of the second half Manu Dagher broke free down the left wing, but his two crosses were easily dealt with.

The game did eventually come to life – albeit very breifly. Forest earned a corner, and Tom Vickers had his header cleared off the line at the expense of another corner, from which Vickers was this time denied by the post.

Inaki Ordono was then booked for a late challenge, and from the resulting free-kick, substitute Luke Callandar snuck in unmarked at the back post to head home.

After the brief flurry of activity, the game returned to its normal course, and both sides saw out the final 12 minutes without forcing a chance between them.
