Waltham Forest 0-2 Maldon & Tiptree

Maldon & Tiptree took all three points in a dour encounter at Wadham Lodge. 

It wasn’t through a lack of effort, but the stop-start nature of the game meant neither side had any real chances until the final 10 minutes of the game.

On 78, Ben Long tested the Maldon ‘keeper with a strike from distance, and Seni Deidhiou could only find the side-netting with his follow up shot.

With Immanuel Parry up the other end of the field after receiving treatment for an injury, Brad Hunter took full advantage, heading home unmarked with the easiest of free headers.

Forest’s downfall was their own doing, as a comedy of errors at the back saw Ollie Berquez tap in at the back post, converting Hunter’s cross.

Joel Palmer, Richard Worrell and Long all went close in the dying moments for Forest, but it was to be another defeat for the increasingly-doomed side.
