Waltham Forest 1-0 Leyton

Forest picked up the most vital of three points, in this afternoon’s local derby, and moved off the foot of the table, jumping over Leyton. Forest thought they’d got the lead during the first half, but had a goal disallowed for a high foot. At the other end, Leyton missed a golden opportunity, but the sides went into the half time break with the score still goalless. Soon after missing a very good chance, Forest took the lead 10 minutes into the second half, new signing Ian Luck put Forest 1-0 up with a headed goal. Soon after, Leyton hit the underside of the bar, only for Jason Willis to smother the ball at a Leyton player’s foot when they seemed destined to score. With only minutes to go, Joel Palmer missed a great chance to put the game beyond any doubt, but it did not matter, as Forest held on and secured only a second league victory of the season.
