Waltham Forest 1-0 Redbridge
Waltham Forest gained their first league win of the season with an assured performance on a bone hard ground which made passing difficult. The home side got off to a sparkling start with Manu Dagher giving Redbridge all kinds of trouble down the left side. Unhappily they could not convert chances into goals.
After 21 minutes of trying, it was a set play which provided the winning goal. A well flighted corner from Luke Stanley found the head of onrushing centre half Tom Vickers who gave the keeper no chance with a powerful header.
Redbridge were finding it difficult to make any headway and really could have been three or four down by half time.
Credit where credit is due, Redbridge never gave up but rarely threatened the home goal. Forest, on the other hand had three goal attempts cleared from the line and were foiled twice by the brave keeping of Redbridge’s Michael Bowditch.
