Waltham Forest 1-1 FC Romania

Forest`s pre-season continued with a 1-1 draw with Essex Senior League outfit FC Romania, though the score does not begin to convey the realities of the match.

With heavy traffic around east London, Forest were without several players and a goalkeeper, meaning a stopper had to be borrowed from the visitors.

And it was the stand-in keeper who was undoubtedly at fault for the first goal, as he stood and watched while a deep cross sailed straight in.

Forest made a few changes at half time, though not as many as two days earlier against London Bari.

It was these substitutes who swung the game in Forest`s favour, as they dominated the second half, grabbing an equalizer mid-way though the half courtesy of a neat one-on-one finish.

At times, the match was played more like a cup final than a friendly, but Forest will take solace from the fact that they were very rarely troubled by the away attack.

Next up for Forest is a trip to Sawbridgeworth on Tuesday 23rd July.
