Waltham Forest 1-2 Basildon United

Waltham Forest went down 2-1 for the third game in a row, conceding a late winner to Basildon United.

There was little incident in the first half, save for Roy Ferrari-Hallowell slicing a finish wide when through on goal.

The game came alive mid-way through the second half, with Basildon playing a more direct, physical game.

They were rewarded on 68 minutes when George Whitby finished a counter-attacking move, with a low shot which Ferhat Hussein in the Forest goal really should have kept out.

Forest were given a chance to get back into the match, and they took it. Miscommunication between the Basildon ‘keeper and his defence allowed Neil Thompson to run in and lob home for his third goal of the season.

However, there was another twist in the game with 92 minutes played. Forest were lazy in getting back from an attacking move, and were punished when Lorenzo Ramsey scored from fully 30-yards, with a shot that Hussein should have saved easily.
