Waltham Forest 1-2 Clapton
Forest fell to defeat against Clapton in an east London derby which could have gone either way.
After a bright start from the visitors, it was Forest who took the lead, Jeff Hammond turning his marker in the box and firing low and hard past Richie Robbins.
But Clapton hit back on the counter, a cross being knocked in at the back post.
And soon it was 2-1 to the Tons thanks again to an unmarked back post finish.
Forest were lucky to keep their full complement of players after Gus Douglas pulled down a Clapton forward when through on goal.
Forest were given a change to get back into the game, but Brian Moses’ weak penalty was easily saved.
From then on Clapton dealt with Forest’s attempts and the the post, bar and hand a goal disallowed on the counter.
