Forest looked to use the wind as much as they could and came to terms with it much better than Thamesmead. They had the first shot on 8 minutes and deservedly took the lead on 17 minutes when Ellis Sands won a penalty, which Efe Echanomi slotted home from the spot.

Forest went on to dominate the first half with Echanomi, Manu Dagher and Courtney White posing a constant threat on the Thamesmead goal with Sam Mott making a string of fine saves to keep his team in with a shout.

Thamesmead made a good start to the second half and had two excellent chances to equalise but, as the game went on, the hard work of the home defence paid off, and Thamsemead chances were few and far between.

On 93 minutes Courtney White sealed the points for Forest with a fine individual goal.
