Waltham Forest 2-1 Tilbury
Waltham Forest progressed to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy for only the 5th time in their history as they overcame Tilbury 2-1 at Cricklefields.
Tilbury beat league leaders Grays Athletic 3-1 in the week, but they were brought back down to earth this Sunday.
Billy Melton put Forest ahead with his first goal of the season, an excellent long-range effort.
Josh Bonnett then put Forest 2 up through a goal which left the Tilbury defence looking for an offside decision.
Tilbury did pull a goal back in the second half through Cook, but Forest heald on for the win.
Forest will play either Walton Casuals or Faversham Town in the next round on Saturday 22nd of October. The two sides drew 2-2 yesterday, and will fight it out again on Tuesday evening.
Ilford were knocked out of the competition yesterday, and their opponents on the 22nd – Needham Market – won 7-1, meaning there should not be an issue with the use of Cricklefields.
