Walthamstow 0-2 Wroxham

Walthamstow’s run without a win continued on Saturday after a 2-0 loss at home to Wroxham.

It was a deserved win for the visitors, capitalising on mistakes in the Stow defence. Up the other end of the pitch, Stow managed to only produce one shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

The first chance of the game was the first goal of the afternoon just five minutes in. The ball headed back towards Caleb Dennis who misjudged the bounce of the ball, giving James Moore a one-on-one opportunity. The striker skipped past an onrushing David Hughes and rolled the ball into an empty net.

Wroxham continued to pile on the pressure and came very close to a second not long after. Charlie Norman’s cross found Moore unmarked in the box, but the shot from the attacker rolled inches wide of the post.

Stow were trying to get back into the game but weren’t clinical enough in front of goal. Callum Ibe’s cross found Joe Gregory on the turn but he was unable to connect with the shot and it rolled wide, and Jared Small’s ball found Brian Garzon on the edge of the box who skipped past the defenders with some quick feet but his shot flew over the bar.

Just before the break, Wroxham made it two. James Moore became provider and played Asa McGeachy through on goal and he found the net doubling the visitors advantage.

The second half didn’t include much action, with Wroxham still in control of the game. The visitors had chances to make it three when Travis Dodsworth played Asa McGeachy down the left-hand side but his shot was rolled into the hands of David Hughes.

Stow’s only shot on goal was from Rasheed Salau, as he received the ball from Jared Small and cut inside but his effort was saved by Henry Bullen.

Walthamstow enter December without a win in 12 league games, beginning with a rearranged home fixture against Mildenhall Town on Tuesday.
