Walthamstow 1-2 Real Bedford

Walthamstow’s FA Trophy journey came to an end with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Real Bedford at Wadham Lodge. The visitors struck late to seal their progression, leaving Stow to reflect on a spirited but ultimately unsuccessful performance.

Real Bedford took the lead in the 17th minute when Isaac Galliford finished clinically from close range. Walthamstow responded well, creating several chances, with Greene making a key save to keep the deficit at one. The hosts equalized in the 32nd minute through Te Wihongi’s stunning free kick, curling the ball past the keeper into the near post.

The second half was a tight affair, with both teams creating opportunities. Artmeladze and Johnson came close for Stow, while Bedford struck the post in the 86th minute. With the game seemingly heading to extra time, Josh Setchell broke Walthamstow hearts in the 88th minute, slotting home a late winner.

Despite four added minutes, Walthamstow couldn’t find a way back. They now shift focus to their league clash with Tilbury on Tuesday.
