Walthamstow 4-0 Brightlingsea Regent

Walthamstow cruised to victory on Saturday afternoon after a comfortable 4-0 win against Brightlingsea Regent at Wadham Lodge in front of a bustling crowd of 504.

Stow once again deserved the three points, with a great turnaround at half time putting in a superb second half performance.

It only took three minutes for Stow to find the net and make it 1-0. Fatih Mustafa’s free kick was headed in by Joden Trickett to give Stow the lead.

From then on, not much happened in the first half. The visitors had a few crosses turned away by debutant goalkeeper Connor Pastore.

Into the second half, Stow pushed for a second goal to take the game in full control. Joden Trickett’s pass put Nathaniel Orafu one on one with Regent goalkeeper Sam Cowler but he was denied from close range, and Fatih Mustafa’s cross found Zion Dos Santos Sinclair at the back post but his header was saved.

With seventy minutes on the clock, Stow doubled their lead. Mustafa’s corner was slapped into the air by goalkeeper Cowler and tapped home by James Collins who scored his first of the afternoon.

Stow made it three and Collins got his second with an exceptional free kick. Tristan Goodridge won a foul on the edge of the box, leading JC to curl the ball around the wall and into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.

Collins wrapped up his ten minute hattrick from the spot after substitute Elijah Grant was fouled in the box by the goalkeeper. He slotted the ball into the bottom corner giving Stow another deserved win and rounding off a great afternoon.

Walthamstow start a run of three away games on the bounce, with Hashtag United on Tuesday evening in the Essex Senior Cup.
