Walthamstow 6-0 Erith & Belvedere

Walthamstow progress to the next round of the London Senior Cup after a 6-0 win over Step 5 side Erith & Belvedere.

Stow will now face either Woodford Town or Hendon away in the next round.

It was another great performance from Stow, who controlled throughout the 90 minutes and were ruthless in front of goal.

It only took two minutes for Stow to find the net, and it was through Saturday’s first goal scorer – Fatih Mustafa. Keano Robinson’s long throw was brought down by captain James Collins who laid the ball off for Mustafa and he found the net with ease to give the blues the lead.

Stow found the net four minutes later thanks to Nathaniel Orafu’s bullet header from a corner, but it was disallowed for what seemed like a foul on the goalkeeper.

But it didn’t take long for Stow’s second goal to count as they doubled their lead in the 18th minute. Danny Cowlin was given his first start today and displayed a brilliant performance – the winger drove into the box where his shot took a deflection and fell for Elijah Grant who tapped the ball home for 2-0.

Stow should’ve been awarded a penalty shortly after when Grant was played through on goal and was sliced in half by Erith goalkeeper Daniel Houckham, but there was nothing given by the referee.

The visitors did have chances through the game, and came close when winger Marvin Herschel was through on goal but fired over the bar.

Stow were hungry for more, and didn’t take their foot off the gas. Danny Cowlin and Sajed Korso were both denied brilliantly by goalkeeper Houckham, and ten minutes later, Grant, Korso, Mustafa and James Collins’ effort were all denied as well.

The blues eventually found the third of the evening through Danny Cowlin. Elijah Grant’s flick on found Korso who squared the ball across the face of goal to find Cowlin unmarked at the back post who made it three at half time.

Less than a minute into the second half, Stow found the net again. Elijah Grant found himself in front of goal and calmly rolled the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net.

Stow were looking for a fifth, and came close when Cowlin’s effort hit the post from just inside the box. But they did find their fifth goal and it was through substitute Joden Trickett. Grant did well to win the ball off of on rushing goalkeeper Houckham, and he squared the ball for Trickett who fired the ball into an empty net.

Four minutes later and Stow had found their sixth of the evening. Sajed Korso’s cross found Trickett who passed it on to Cowlin and he calmly slotted the ball home for his second of the game.

It was then smooth sailing for Walthamstow, who had more chances to kill the game off with Elijah Grant coming close on multiple occasions to find his hattrick. Stow are back in league action this weekend, with a trip to Concord Rangers.
