Walthamstow v Brightlingsea Regent preview

Walthamstow face off against Brightlingsea Regent this weekend at Wadham Lodge in the Isthmian League.

Stow returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening after a 1-0 win at home against Bowers & Pitsea. It was a deserved three points for the Stow, who were reduced to 10 men when Jared Small was sent off late in the second half. Despite the setback, Joden Trickett’s strike in the 85th minute gave Stow the three points.

Our visitors – The R’s

It’s been a rocky start to the season for Brightlingsea, who have only won once this season in their most recent game at home against Lowestoft Town. Goals from Daniel Rowe, Joseph Watson, Luca Terminiello, Benjamin Sargeant and Emmanuel Zion wrapped up a 5-0 win.

Regent were knocked out of both FA competitions at the first hurdle, losing to Histon 3-1 in the Cup and being defeated at Ware in the Trophy on penalties.

Previous meetings

Last season, Brightlingsea picked up 6 points in the two meetings between the two sides. Stow travelled to the coast in October where they were comfortably defeated 3-0 with goals from Shane Temple, Dan Rowe and Jake Clowsley. The reverse fixture took place on Valentines Day where Stow goalkeeper David Hughes received the wrong type of card – a red card. With Stow being 1-0 up, goalscorer Keano Robinson stepped in goal in one of the most bizarre situations. Regent took the opportunity for granted and turned the game on its head with goals from Michael Okafor and Jake Clowsley.
