Walthamstow v Heybridge Swifts preview
Walthamstow return to Wadham Lodge this weekend and take on Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian League.
Stow made the trip to Takeley last Saturday in a game which Stow should’ve comfortably taken all three points. That was unfortunately not the case as Takeley stole the victory in a 2-1 win. Zak Drake gave the hosts the lead nine minutes in with a calm finish from inside the box. Stow dominated the rest of the game but couldn’t take their chances until the 89th minute when Keano Robinson headed in from a corner. Takeley then went up the other end in the 91st minute and snatched the win thanks to Jordan Wescott.
Heybridge currently sit third from bottom and eight points from safety, without a win since February. The Swifts hosted Tilbury on Saturday with the Dockers picking up three points in a 2-1 win. Joshua Colyer gave Heybridge the lead three minutes into the second half before Dan Trendall levelled it up ten minutes later. Ronnie Winn went on to score the winner from the penalty spot in the 87th minute.
Earlier in the season, Stow picked up three points in a 3-1 victory away at Heybridge under interim management of Lee Doherty. Samuel Adeyeye gave the hosts the lead on the half hour mark before Rasheed Salau’s equaliser just before half time. Brian Garzon gave the blues the lead in the 57th minute, before substitute Joe Gregory sealed the victory in the 90th minute.
