Walthamstow v Lowestoft Town preview

It’s been nearly a month since Stow have played on a Saturday at Wadham Lodge, but they’re back this weekend as they host Lowestoft Town in the Isthmian League.

Before Tuesday night, it had been a tough run of results for Stow who hadn’t won since their FA Trophy win at home against Leverstock Green. Stow travelled to Barkingside to take on top of the league and the side who hadn’t lost in the league yet this season – Hashtag United. However, that all changed as Stow picked up a big three points in a well deserved 2-1 win. Two goals in quick succession from James Collins and Joden Trickett sent Stow into half time two goals up. The blues managed to hang on until the 96th minute when Ellis Devereux scored a consolation goal for the Tags, but it was all too little, too late.

Our visitors – The Trawlerboys

Lowestoft haven’t had the best start to the new season, as they sit 17th in the league, and are out of both FA competitions, losing 4-1 to Cambridge City in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Cup, and losing 3-1 to AFC Sudbury in the First Qualifying Round of the Trophy.

In the Isthmian League, their record currently stands at won 2, drawn 1 and lost five – including a 6-1 loss away at Wroxham and a 5-0 defeat at home against Little Oakley on Tuesday. The Acorns were up by two at half time thanks to Tobias Braney and Luke Mayhew, added on by three goals in the second half from Daniel Keeble, Josh McFaull and George Davis.

Previous meetings

Both Stow and Lowestoft won once in the two meetings between the sides last season. The game at Lowestoft was originally scheduled for early January, but wasn’t played until March. However, it didn’t stop Stow picking up three points in a rampant 4-0 win. It was 3-0 at half time thanks to a first half hattrick from last season’s top scorer Brian Garzon – fourth scored by Callum Ibe. In the reverse fixture, it was Lowestoft who were victorious thanks to a goal from Henry Pollock in the first half.
