Westhamians 2-2 Waltham Forest
Waltham Forest made a solid start to their 2014-15 pre-season campaign, though the final score was perhaps not wholly indicative of the game as a whole.
Forest were without two first choice goal keepers, so coaching Harry had to take over between the sticks.
And Westhamians made Forest pay for this early in the first half. A long-range effort would have been a routine save for most goalkeepers, but on this occasion, the shot crept in.
Forest were unable to carve out any other real opportunities in the first half, despite dominating much of the game.
The second half was a different affair however, as Forest began to take hold of the game.
Lee Scott put Forest level with a spetacular effort from well outside the box, after winning the ball in midfield and making a fool of his defender.
The home side thought they’d regained the lead, but their effort was ruled out for offside.
Forest then went close a number of times, including missing from a yard out, before finally taking the lead when a trialist beat the offside trap, and coolly finished, despite the ‘keeper taking him down.
But with only minutes left, Westhamians levelled with a close-range finish.
Forest are in action again this afternoon (Sunday 20th) when they take on Dumlupinar TSK at Wadham Lodge. Kick off is 4PM.
