Relegation not a given

Although Waltham Forest FC finished the season ath the bottom of the league – despite a spirited 4-0 win against Maldon & Tiptree to round it off – relegation is by no means definate at this stage (Guardian Sport, April 28.)

As Leyton resigned mid-season, only one team goes down instead of two, and if only one team is eligible to come up next season, Forest may yet be reprieved from the drop.

It would be unfortunate if both teh borough’s Ryman League clubs were to disappear from it for the 2011-12 season, particularly in the run-up to the Olympics down the raod in Stratford (which unlike everybody else we won’t be able to get to by inproved rail services, but that’s another story).

As the club bears the Borough’s name, it would be nice to see the Council giving Forest a bot more help to find a ground of their own – though as Leyton’s ground is currently without a club to play there, the ideal solution os obvious.
