Brantham Athletic v Walthamstow preview
Walthamstow travel to already-relegated Brantham Athletic on Saturday in the Isthmian League.
Stow hosted third placed Waltham Abbey on Bank Holiday Monday and came out with the three points in a 1-0 win. Callum Ibe’s lob over former Stow keeper Bradley Robinson in the 47th minute was enough for the home side to secure survival.
Brantham also picked up three points on Monday away at Brightlingsea Regent in a 1-0 win. Reuben Chinnery scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute, with Brightlingsea being reduced to 10 men later in the second half when Harry McDonald was shown a straight red card.
Stow and Brantham have met three times already this season which have been the only meetings between the clubs ever. Both teams drew each other in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, which had to go to a replay after a 1-1 draw at Wadham Lodge where Max Brownsdon scored an impressive overhead kick.
Brantham were the ones to progress to the next round thanks to a 4-1 win in the replay. The hosts were three up at half time through Lachlan Haines, Will Jones and Caiden Thomas. Ross Wall pulled one back for Stow who were later given a penalty to make it 3-2, but it was put wide by Jordan Peart. Brantham got their fourth with one minute from time thanks to Luca Terminiello. It would be a month later when the two teams met again, this time in the Isthmian League where Stow ran out as 3-0 winners at Wadham Lodge. Goals from Rasheed Salau, Brian Garzon and a screamer from former Brantham captain Demi Elegushi gave Stow the victory.
