Walthamstow kept up the pressure on the league leaders with a victory and a fifth straight clean sheet in the league at Wadham Lodge.

With a strong wind, and Tower Hamlets only emerging for a warm-up 15 minutes before kick off, it was always going to be a different kind of game.

Stow spent the majority of the first half pumping the ball into the Tower Hamlets box, but save for a few fumbled crosses by the visiting keeper, there was extremely little to talk about in the first half.

Stow came out with a renewed sense of urgency in the second half, and were almost ahead just a few minutes in when Marcus Bowers’ cross-shot hit the crossbar and bounced clear.

In truth, the visitors offered very little going forward, and only had one chance all game, when a weak defensive header was pounced on, but the finish was some way over the bar.

Stow were being limited to set-pieces and long-range efforts. Samrai Gebrai had a couple of shots from the edge of the box testing the keeper, but nothing he couldn’t deal with.

Eventually, with five minutes of normal time still to play, the deadlock was finally broken.

After another corner, Ben Crilley was cut down in the box, and despite the wind blowing the ball just as Dwade James was about to strike it, the striker made no mistake, finding the corner of the net.

Tower Hamlets were reduced to ten straight after the penalty for dissent, but Stow saw out the remainder of the game with little fuss.
