Midfielder who made 45 appearances in the 1996-7 season, scoring four times. Gerry was a right-winger and with Jason Gerraghty on the left and Billy Read up front, they terrorised defences.

Sometimes he forgot what to do with the ball when he got in the opponents’ box, but more often than not he delivered a telling cross and even scored a few goals himself.

Went to Bishop’s Stortford with Paul Taylor after a couple of seasons with us. Was initially a centre forward but was perhaps too small to do really well and certainly got more freedom on the flanks.

Came through the youth system at West Ham.
