Played for the club at the Hare and Hounds and as Leyton Pennant at the Lodge.
Had several spells away at clubs like Dagenham, before they became Dagenham Redbridge and St Albans.
Midfielder who was used more as a full back as time went on.
Not the most subtle of players a bustler who was not afraid to put his foot in on more than a few occasions (plus fist and elbows as well).
When we had a very strong squad in the late 1980s under George Wakeling, as Leyton – Wingate he was always more on the fringes but under Paul Taylor at Leyton Pennant he was a first choice.
Most famous memory – has to be when at Tooting & Mitcham on a muddy Saturday afternoon when the penalty spot had been washed away and he was arguing with the ref as to where he should spot the ball.
The Referee booked him and then got the groundsman to come on and whitewash the very place that Roy wanted to take the kick from (he never rescinded the yellow card though).
