Stanway Rovers v Walthamstow preview

Walthamstow make the journey to Stanway Rovers on Tuesday in the Isthmian League Division One North.

Stow’s winless run continued on Saturday after a 2-1 loss at home to Concord Rangers. A brace from Bobby Kelman just before and after half time gave Concord a comfortable lead before Brian Garzon reduced it to within one. Stow had chances late on for an equaliser but couldn’t take them.

Stanway were in FA Trophy action on Saturday taking on Isthmian Division One South Central side Harrow Borough at home but were unable to pass the First Round after a 2-1 loss. Dernell Wynter’s brace in the second half gave the visitors a two-goal advantage before a consolation from Alex Bolovan. Stanway’s last league fixture was against Saturday’s opponents Concord Rangers. An equaliser from Harrison Chatting helped Rovers to secure a point after going 1-0 down.

Stow and Stanway haven’t faced each other competitively since the last day of the Essex Senior League season, though the two teams met in pre-season last year with Stanway coming out as 4-3 winners. The encounter on the last day saw Stow go into the lead via a penalty from Connor Scully in the second half. Stanway levelled the game with ten minutes to go through Ezequiel Franchi, but Stow came out with the win with Callum Ibe on the scoresheet.
