Tony and June Brazier given prestigious award
Tony and June Brazier have been awarded with the The Budweiser Club Futures Programme Unsung Hero award for the 2012-13 season. The award is thoroughly deserved, and recognizes the immense time and effort Tony and June put into the club.
They were nominated for the award by Graham Larkbey, who’s nomination read:
“Tony & June have been involved with the club and its predecessors since the late 60s (they actually met on the terraces of the then Leyton club, where romance duly blossomed!).
I only got involved circa 2004, so I don’t know the full back-story of their involvement, but I do know that through the turmoils and trials of the last couple of seasons especially they’ve been absolute towers of strength: Tony is Secretary and June is Treasurer, but that only tells a fraction of the story.
Between them they do all the club admin, they buy the kit and bring it and the balls to games (and take it home to wash it after every game), June takes care of the hospitality and players’ post-match food on match days (involving getting up at crack of dawn to prepare it), and on occasions they’ve put their hands in their own pockets to cover necessary urgent expenditure.
They rarely if ever miss a game, home or away regardless of distance or weather, and they do all this despite both being retired, not being in 100% best of health, and now living miles from the club in Basingstoke!
I for one don’t know how they do it, but without them I’m convinced there’d be no WFFC now.”
Graham’s statement covers Tony and June’s contribution to the club perfectly – and as he says, without them, Waltham Forest FC would not exist today.
We are truely honoured to have Tony and June on the committee and would be lost without them.
Well done Tony and June, from everyone at Waltham Forest FC!
