Volunteer and gain experience

Waltham Forest is overshadowed by the Premier League giant of Tottenham Hotspur. We discuss the ticket price and match day comparison and why you might prefer the match day action at Forest. You will definitely get a more authentic experience here on match day.

The Tottenham Kit including the rather garish away shirt is currently retailing at £55 while you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be phased out once the season ends – for children supporting the club you will also pay hefty prices and the ‘toddler’ complete kit is £42. They also offer ‘match worn’ shirts for £300, however they are from players including Bentaleb and Chadli – hardly Spurs icons like Linekar and Ossie Ardiles. Spurs are currently in a hot streak of form so maybe our London neighbours can make the Champions League, Betway currently have this at 5/4 and this season they have a real opportunity with rivals dropping points.

At Forest you can get close to the action every week and experience the physical contact and competition that you only get in non-league football. You could also volunteer and become a tannoy announcer, programme seller or match report writer. This can boost your CV which is invaluable in the current climate while also supporting your local club. At White Hart Lane ticket prices on the day can range from an eye watering £81 to £32 although you obviously get to watch Premiership football and big stars. Despite this Chelsea recently played out a dire 0-0 draw with Spurs at the Lane so a hefty ticket price doesn’t always guarantee a great game. To read opinion and news on Premiership and non-league action you can do this at Betway, this can give more excitement to the game even if the action on the grass proves a bit dull.

Other great volunteering opportunities include youth team and reserve coaches if you feel like becoming the new Poch’ or Jose – maybe combine these with coaching badges to further boost your experience. Managing at a level where money is tight is invaluable experience as you can’t just splash the cash and expect results. Remember Andre Villas-Boas and his post Gareth Bale spending spree – this didn’t work out and he was sacked in December 2013.

Granted – the action at Forest doesn’t compare to White Hart Lane when they overturn a big club or Arsenal but why not get down and catch some non-league action. Maybe on a week when Spurs are away from home or during Christmas with the family in order to get a break from the festivities. Support your local club but they can also support you by offering fantastic volunteering opportunities both off and on the field.
