Walthamstow 0-1 Bromley

Walthamstow bowed out of the London Senior Cup after a 1-0 defeat to League 2 side Bromley.

It was a much-improved performance compared to Saturday, but conceding another penalty did the damage.

The visitors started the better and had a chance just five minutes in. Ryan Fellowes gave the ball away in the penalty area but goalkeeper David Hughes recovered well and managed to keep the scores level.

Stow were slowly producing chances of their own, but they were all comfortably saved by Bromley keeper Dillon Addai. Brian Garzon’s shot was easily collected, and Olu Oluwatimilehin’s effort went straight down the middle of him.

Bromley were then awarded a penalty with only seven minutes until half time. Fellowes was judged to have tripped up the Bromley striker which gave the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Captain Soul Kader stepped up and sent Hughes the wrong way to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.

Stow had a chance to get straight back in the game if it wasn’t for a good save from Addai. Garzon’s ball found Samir Ali out on the left-hand side who cut back inside and his shot was tipped over the bar.

The second half started with Stow nearly levelling the game just three minutes in. A long ball over the top found Ali who poked the ball through the legs of Addai and was goal bound but it lacked power and was eventually cleared off the line.

The visitors got close to getting a second goal from a free kick taken by Jedd Hobbs, but it was well saved by Hughes.

With six minutes left on the clock, Stow had their last chance to get the equaliser when Garzon played substitute Pedro Carvalho through on goal, but he dragged his shot wide.

Walthamstow now face Waltham Abbey on Saturday, in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.
