Walthamstow v Concord Rangers preview

Walthamstow return to Wadham Lodge this weekend to play Concord Rangers in the Isthmian League Division One North.

Stow were in Essex Senior Cup action away at Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday but weren’t able to progress after a 1-0 loss. A late goal from Macauley Bonne sent the Jammers through to the next round, though Stow went down to 10 men midway through the second half when Rasheed Salau received a second yellow card.

Concord were also taking part in the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday as they made the trip to Aveley to take on Hashtag United. However, they were also knocked out as they lost 6-0. Braces from Jaxon Brown, Bradley Sach and goals each from Luke May-Parrott and Praise Ogbebor sent the Tags into the hat for the next round. Concord’s last league game ended in a 1-1 draw at home to Stanway Rovers. Khris Oti gave the Beachboys the lead 10 minutes from half time, but the visitors picked up a point near the end thanks to Harrison Chatting.

Stow and Concord’s meetings last season ended in a win for Concord and a draw. Stow made the journey to Canvey Island on the 14th September and lost in the last minute via a goal from Anisius Lewis. The Beachboys then travelled to E17 in early November with the game ending level. Louie Johnson scored the opener on the 51st minute, with Thomas Stagg scoring the equaliser just seven minutes later.

Walthamstow and Concord’s common people

Stow don’t have any former Concord players, but the same can’t be said the other way around.

Khris Oti signed for Stow in 2022 and made a return to E17 in December 2024.

Jaiden Babalola had a brief stint at Wadham Lodge at the beginning of last season.

Summer signing Alfie Gilbey spent time at Concord during the middle of last season.
