Walthamstow v Witham Town preview

Walthamstow welcome Witham Town to Wadham Lodge on Saturday, hoping that this will be the first game of the new year.

Stow were scheduled a trip to the seaside to face Lowestoft Town last Saturday, but Storm Goretti’s rain meant the game was postponed. A new date will be announced soon.

Witham were away on the weekend at local rivals Maldon & Tiptree, with the Jammers prevailing in a comfortable 4-0 win. Freddie Sears and Michael Faulkner’s goals in the space of nine minutes gave the hosts a two-goal advantage before Sears bagged his second just nine minutes after. Anisius Lewis’ early second half goal made it four and was enough for the victory.

The last meeting between the two sides was back in September, when Stow travelled to Witham and thrashed the home side 5-0. Jordan Peart gave Stow an early lead just four minutes in, followed by Gassem Benelghazi’s goal on the 19th minute. Witham were reduced to 10 men when captain Ryan Mallett was shown a straight red card for a stamp on Rasheed Salau, who went and made it 3-0 just before half time. Benelghazi got his second of the game less than a minute after the restart, and Brian Garzon got on the scoresheet to make it 5-0 and bring the points back to East London.
