Cambridge City v Walthamstow preview
Walthamstow travel to Cambridge City this Bank Holiday Monday in the Isthmian League Division One North.
Stow are back off picking up their second point of the season in a 1-1 draw on Saturday at home to Newmarket Town. Pedro Carvalho got Stow’s only goal with a thumping volley midway through the first half, the Jockeys equalised with a volley of their own from captain Josh Coulson. Cambridge are still without a point as they lost away at Mildenhall Town. City took the lead 20 minutes in through Michael Salako but they didn’t hold on for long as the hosts scored two giving them the lead at half time. Mildenhall were the ones to seal the win through Ben Nolan in the 55th minute.
Last season was the first time we encountered Cambridge City since the 1992-1993 season. Early October saw Stow travel to St Ives where City were groundsharing before they had their new stadium built. City were the one to take the 3 points on a wet Tuesday night in a 3-1 win with goals from Jack Thompson and a brace from George Smith. Stow got a consolation through Tayo Oyebola in the 81st minute but it was too little too late for a comeback. The reverse fixture took place in April and Stow claimed the win through Louie Johnson.
