The Wadham Lodge outfit must wish they could play away from home every week. After a very profitable time on their travels over the past few weeks, they came home to face a very ordinary Uxbridge side but were not able to raise their game enough to deserve three points at the Lodge.
Uxbridge forced the game into the midfield area right from the start and that was where they intended to keep it. In recent months this tactic has played into Forest’s hands as they have made it their forte to hit teams on the break.
However, with a number of players “off colour” the out ball was were really in evidence and guile was missing from the midfield.
After a fairly non descript first half when chances were at a premium, Uxbridge went ahead on 60 minutes after winning a corner. The ball came into the home sides goal area and should have been dealt with. Unhappily, the ball managed to act like a bagatelle for three or four seconds until it found its way tamely into the goal.
Forest were galvanised in to action and forced a corner seven minutes later which was headed onto his own upright by Kevin Swift. Joe Nartey was first to the rebound and scored his first goal for the club.
That was about all that went right for Forest as four minutes later they gave away another needless free kick on the edger of the penalty area which was thumped to the near post. Paul Salmon, who had an otherwise excellent game, headed into his own net when trying to clear.
After the game manager Hakan Hayrettin identified a lack of passion from some players as one of the reasons for the defeat.
