Potters Bar Town v Waltham Forest – 23/11/10
This Tuesday, we travel to Potters Bar Town, with the hope of putting our last two disapointing results behind us. After an excellent result against Cheshunt, we performed poorly against Romford and Brentwood Town. While we must make a note that these two sides are fairly high up the table, our performances, especially on Saturday – when two of our players saw red – have simply not been good enough. Potters Bar Town have been somewhat of a surprise package this season, and are currently occupying a play-off place in what is proving to be a very close division. Potters Bar were involved in an extrordinary match at the weekned, putting six goals past Great Wakering when palying away from home. If anythign is to be learnt from this game it is that Potters Bar do have some defensive frailties which we can hopefully expose.
The Beer Hunter’s Guide to Potters Bar:
If you’re going to Potters Bar by train, you can fortify yourself for the longish hike to the ground at the local Wetherspoons – the Admiral Byng in Darkes Lane, not far from the station. Nearer the ground itself, the Cask and Stillage in the High Street didn’t look too promising initially on the Beer Hunter’s last visit, but turned out to keep a surprisingly good pint of Youngs Special. The football club bar has no real ale – but close inspection of the fridge revealed some very welcome bottles of London Pride!
Travelling to Potters Bar:
From the M25, exit Jct 24. Enter Potters Bar along Southgate Rd A111. Turn right at first traffic lights into High Street A1000. After petrol station on left and pedestrian crossing, take first left into The Walk and then after 300 metres, first right into Watkins Rise, which leads to the ground.
Please note: DO NOT park in the Mayfair Lodge Home car park opposite the ground or you will be clamped. If our car park is full, park in Watkins Rise, or out in The Walk.
Nearest BR Station: Potters Bar. (Directly opposite the main station entrance is The Walk. Proceed up the hill, past two mini roundabouts and Watkins Rise is on the left.)
