Stags 1 – 0 Brentwood

A 88th minute penalty from Danny Gabriel made sure that Forest continued their unbeaten start to the season, and move up to third place in the table.

The game took some time to get going but the Stags could have gone ahead early on when Danny Gabriel  put in an excellent cross only to see Lukman Mojeed head just over the bar. The home defence stood solid so Brentwood’s only real chance of the first half fell to George Lay but his shot was easily dealt with by Sam Tanner.

The second half was much the same fare with Stags having a good penalty call waved away and Brentwood having two half chances themselves.

Nearing the end, Stags felt they should have been three up but their hard work was rewarded when, on 87 mins, Luke Stanley was hauled over in the Brentwood penalty area for Danny Gabriel to slot home the spot kick.
