Takeley 2-1 Walthamstow
Walthamstow fell to a late defeat on Saturday after a 2-1 loss away at Takeley.
It was a game in which Stow should have scored more than one, completely dominating the game but not taking their opportunities in the final third.
Stow were the better side, but it was Takeley who took the lead nine minutes in. Zak Drake found himself in acres of space in the box and calmly finished past David Hughes to give the hosts the advantage.
From then on, it was all Stow with chances coming left, right and centre but none of them finding the net. Chris Regis laid the ball off for Callum Ibe to strike from outside the box which rolled narrowly wide of the post, and Teddy Stacey found Jordan Peart on the left hand side who drove into the box, rounded the goalkeeper but was cut out before he could get a shot away.
Chances kept coming as Wilson Bernal’s ball found Ibe who fired over from 9 yards, and Brian Garzon’s effort from outside the penalty area flew wide of the post.
The second half was exactly the same as the first, with Stow looking for the equaliser but being unable to find it. Jordan Peart continued to cause trouble down the left-hand side with him being the gateway for Stow’s attacks. His shot from inside the box rolled wide of the far post, and his cross found its way into a goalmouth scramble with the ball bouncing off the post and out for a corner.
One minute from time, Stow finally found the net. Substitute Harvey Livings-Corbin put in a great delivery from a corner which was met by Keano Robinson who headed off the bar and into the back of the net.
That only lasted two minutes as Takeley went right up the other end and snatched the three points. A cross from the left-hand side from Jayden Sicott-Brown found Jordan Wescott unmarked in the box who volleyed past Hughes and into the net.
