Waltham Forest 2 – 3 Enfield Town
Forest threw away three points in a local derby which ended in a bitter fashion. Town were certainly the better side for the first half, hitting the post twice and making Forest work hard to keep the score down to 0-0 at half time. Forest came out far the better side at the start of the second half, and commanded tested the Town goal on several occasions. On 62, Jon Stevenson was given a straight red card after a horrendous foul on Lee Haywood. This sending gave Forest the advantage they needed. Ade Cole put the home side 1-0 up on 68 with a cross-shot which left Rob Blackborne stranded. Danny Francis made it 2-0 four minutes later with a cool one-on-one finish. With the game seemingly fading away into only a second home win of the season for Forest, Town were given a lifeline 86 when Jason Willis brought down Adam Wallace in the area. Hope put the resulting penalty away. Three minutes later, Walid Matata bundled Jason Willis and the ball into the net to make it 2-2. Rock of the Forest defence Joe Ellui was then taken off with a suspected broken leg, and Walid Matata made it 3-2 in injury time to finish a disappointing day for Forest.
