Stags 0 – 0 Northwood
No goals, and a number of wasted chances meant that both sides maintained an unbeaten record in this goalless affair.
Forest had the better of the chances early on, but the good approach work was let down in the final third. Andre Humphrey-Modeste and Sam Adejokun both had efforts just wide of the target, and a long range effort by Ian Walsh was well held by Northwood keeper Mitch Swain. At the other end Gary Senior shot wide and Rob Ursell had a goal bound effort block.
Danny Gabriel came closest to scoring in the first half, but the Forest striker’s free-kick from about 25 yards out went just wide of the post.
Northwood came more into the game after the break, but Senior had an effort blocked and Hugo Figueiredo shot wide.
Midway through the half Northwood captain Mark Burgess fouled Gabriel, and as he was judged to be the last defender, referee Tim Donnellan had to send him off. From the resultant free kick Forest had a good shout for a penalty as a member of the defending wall clearly handled the ball, but the officials failed to spot the offence and the ball was cleared.
In stoppage time Swain did well to punch the ball clear as Forest mounted a final attack.
