On Thursday night Pennant recorded a vital win at Wadham Lodge, beating Staines 4-1. The visitors tactic of high, long balls was more of a nuisance than a real threat to the Lilywhites defence although they did take the lead after 37 minutes.
Within five minutes Pennant were level when Tony Dixon fired home from the edge of the box and a minute later Read put them ahead.
The scoring spree hadnt finished either. A minute before the end of the half, Ben Wood rose to head home a Tyrone Hercules cross.
Shaun O’Neill was the busier goalkeeper for most of the second period but it was the Lilywhites who scored the only other goal, Read capping a fine display by netting from a tight angle.
