Goals from Callum Ibe and Dwade James gave Walthamstow a good win over Woodford Town on Tuesday evening as they moved back up to 3rd. Woodford came out fighting but the fire power of Stow was too much as the win means they remain unbeaten.

It was Woodford who started the quickest with their first attack came in 2nd minute but James Bransgrove was out well to block. Walthamstow had a couple of attack themselves in the opening minutes; a shot from Callum Ibe was deflected wide before another shot was dragged wide.

As the first half went on, Stow began to up the pressure and began to dominant possession. A drifted cross from Benji Crilley rattled the crossbar before Callum Ibe did well to take the ball around the Town keeper but no one was able to take advantage in the box and a shot from Dwade James was fired over. The deadlock was broke in the 35th minute when Callum Ibe managed to lift the ball over the goalkeeper and into the goal.

Dwade saw another shot fly over the bar on his left foot before, a couple of minutes later, he doubled Stow’s advantage with 5 minutes left of the first half. A good run from Callum Ibe saw him beat a defender before squaring it to Dwade who tapped it in.

Walthamstow came out the quickest in the second half and had an opportunity in the 50th minute. Benji Crilley was played through but opted to try and play in Dwade James but the ball was cleared. A couple of minutes later, Stow had a penalty shout for handball turned down before Woodford Town fired a shot over down the other end.

Stow continued to pressure the visitors but couldn’t find the third goal. A free-kick from Vinny Murphy was sent just wide before a half-volley from Jack Folan saw him dragged the ball wide of the target.

Woodford found some possession and tried to get back in the game but they struggled to find the back of the net. A shot was fired over before a couple of shots were sent just wide of the goal. Despite an effort from distance from Ollie Fortune, Stow were victorious by two goals to nil.

Speaking to Stow defender Gus Douglas after the game, he said “We made hard work of it but we got the three points. It just shows why you sign a player like Stephen Carvell, when he is putting in balls like that. We were better in the second half but it wasn’t our best performance.”

[When asked about the confidence] “Confidence is really high but you’ve only got to look at the bench to see who’s not making the squad. We all know the gaffer can change it at any moment if the game needs something different for us to get the three points.”

[When asked about Saturday’s game] “The guys will rest tomorrow before returning to training on Thursday. We know Tower Hamlets like to keep the ball well so we need to be ready for that. We will prepare the same way we do with any game as they are all as important as the previous one.”
