Stags 1 – 1 Heybridge Swifts
A game which started so brightly for Heybridge ended in controversy when they believe they’d scored in the 77th minute to win the game but Assistant referee Craig Wood ruled that the ball had not gone into the net. Within a few minutes, referee Dave Buck had to leave the pitch having been knocked unconscious from a free kick taken by Heybridge defender Ryan O’Rawe.
The game carried on after a 10 minute stoppage.
Heybridge had taken a 15th minute lead when Forest’s Andre Humphrey Modest was red carded for handling the ball on the line with Reece Morgan making no mistake with the spot kick.
Heybridge continued to pile on the pressure but were unable to get the important second goal. With the start of the second half, Forest looked much brighter when Robert Carter scored from close range after 46 minutes. He then missed a chance to give Forest the lead, heading groundward rather than into the goal.
The last real chance of the match fell to Swifts when Luke Hammond hit the crossbar from a free kick.
